How to obtain a permit of stay for study in Italy?

According to the Italian legislation, in fact, to all citizens not belonging to the EU, but who wish to participate in and attend a course of studies in Italy may be issued with a residence permit for study reasons. The duration of the residence permit for study has the same duration of the course of studies you want to enroll, with the possibility of annual renewal, whether they be educational institutions, academic or artistic.

All citizens from outside the European Union, within eight day from their arrival in Italy, must submit, to the Post Offices of the city in which they intend to settle, the question of a residence permit for study reasons. At the Post Office you must present:
an application filled in and signed by the interested party;
a copy of the passport or an equivalent document.
For the first issue of a residency permit must be produced:
photocopy of the statement certifying the course of study to follow, certified by the Italian Diplomatic/Consular mission at the time of the issuance of the entry visa;photocopy of insurance policy, valid throughout the national territory, for the period of validity of the residency permit, against the risk of illness and/or injuries.After being presented to the Post Office authorities, the application will be processed by the immigration Office of the Questura. This last call then the person concerned for the booking and the subsequent release of the permit.
Renewal Permit
The renewal application for the permit of stay for study reasons must be submitted 30 days before and no later than 60 days after the expiration of the visa.
For the renewal of the permit of stay must be produced:
photocopy of the passport or other equivalent document
photocopy of the documentation certifying the availability of adequate financial resources for the period of the duration of the permit of stay. The working student may supply proof of income by filling out a form dedicated;
photocopy of insurance policy, valid throughout the national territory for the period of validity of the residency permit, against the risk of illness and injury.
a photocopy of a certificate showing that you have passed at least one exam for the 1st renewal and at least 2 exams for the following renewals of residence permit, except in cases of force majeure.
NOTES
1) The stay permit for study reasons permit work to be carried out part-time for a maximum of 20 weekly hours and a yearly limit of 1,040 hours.
2), The permit of stay for study reasons may only be renewed if the entry visa was issued for attendance of a course of study for many years.
3), The permit of stay for study reasons cannot be renewed for more than three years beyond the duration of the study course.
4) residency permits for study reasons cannot be used or renewed to attend a course of study other than that for which it has been granted the visa with the exception of a change to another faculty when conceded by the academic Authorities and access to a course of university type undertaken at the end of the frequency in Italy of a course of medium level/higher.
5), The permit of stay for study reasons may be converted into the one for the job by acquiring a quota within the scope of the decree of the programming of entry flows for work demonstrating possession of the requisites required by the standard for the type of work done:
– by the alien already regularly present on the national territory to the achievement of the age of majority;
– from the stranger which he holds in Italy, diploma di laurea or the laurea specialistica, as a result of the frequency of the relative course of studies in Italy.
